About Us

Who We Are?

Zawadi Initiative is a non-profit Islamic organisation based in Mauritius and Madagascar, dedicated to serving communities with action and purpose. We work to uplift those in need and create opportunities for positive change.

Inspired by the Swahili word “zawadi”—meaning “gift”, we believe that even the smallest act of kindness can create lasting change.

From charitable support and educational programs to social initiatives, we strive to make a meaningful impact guided by Islamic values of sincerity and service. We collaborate closely with volunteers and partners to address gaps in education, employment, and living conditions, ensuring that help reaches directly where it is needed most.

By donating to Zawadi, you are not just giving money—you are giving dignity, relief, and hope. Together, we are committed to building a future rooted in compassion, empowerment, and shared responsibility.

Join us. Trust us. Be part of the change.

OUR STORY: A JOURNEY OF THE HEART

What began as a simple vacation to Madagascar in August 2024 with friends turned into an experience that changed our hearts forever. We arrived eager to explore the country’s natural beauty, but what we encountered beyond the landscapes moved us in ways we never expected.

In the bustling streets of Antananarivo, we met children who were barefoot and hungry, their eyes reflecting both hardship and resilience. Those moments stayed with us long after we returned to Mauritius, leaving us with a deep sense that we had to do something more.

And so, the Zawadi Initiative took shape, inspired by the Swahili word for “gift”, a symbol of our belief that every life is valuable and even the smallest act of kindness can create lasting change.
